Privacy Policy
Effective Date: January 27, 2025
🔒 Your Privacy, Protected
TL;DR: MindTrack doesn't collect, store, or transmit any personal data. Everything stays on your device. No accounts, no tracking, no analytics in the app itself. We respect your privacy because focus requires trust.
1. Introduction
MindTrack ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how our desktop application handles your information. We built MindTrack with privacy as a core principle, especially understanding that many in the ADHD community value their privacy highly.
2. Information We Don't Collect
The MindTrack desktop application does NOT collect, store, or transmit:
- Personal identification information
- Email addresses or contact details
- Usage statistics or analytics
- Focus session data or timer history
- Voice recordings or transcripts
- IP addresses or location data
- Device identifiers or fingerprints
- Any form of behavioral tracking
3. How MindTrack Works
3.1 Local Data Storage
MindTrack stores all data locally on your device:
- Settings: Your preferences (timer lengths, sound settings) are saved in your system's application data folder
- Statistics: Session counts and focus time are calculated and stored locally
- History: Past session records remain on your device only
3.2 Voice Recognition
Voice commands are processed using your operating system's built-in speech recognition:
- No audio is recorded or saved
- No voice data is transmitted to our servers
- Speech processing happens entirely on your device
- We cannot and do not access your voice commands
3.3 No Internet Required
MindTrack works completely offline. The application:
- Does not require an internet connection to function
- Does not phone home or check license servers
- Does not sync data to any cloud service
- Only connects to the internet to check for updates (optional)
4. Website Analytics (mindtrack.app)
Our website (not the desktop app) uses analytics to understand visitor behavior:
Service | Purpose | Data Collected |
---|---|---|
Google Analytics | Website traffic analysis | Page views, referrers, anonymous demographics |
Vercel Analytics | Performance monitoring | Page load times, visitor counts |
Website analytics are anonymous and used only to improve our website. They do not track individual users or connect to the desktop application in any way.
5. Microphone Permissions
MindTrack requests microphone access for voice commands. Here's what you need to know:
- Permission is optional - all features work with mouse/keyboard
- You can revoke permission at any time in your system settings
- Audio is processed locally by your operating system
- No audio data ever leaves your device
- We cannot access your microphone remotely
6. Updates and Crash Reports
6.1 Automatic Updates
When checking for updates, MindTrack sends:
- Current version number
- Operating system type (Windows/Mac/Linux)
This check can be disabled in settings.
6.2 Crash Reports
MindTrack does not automatically send crash reports. If the app crashes, error logs are stored locally on your device. You can choose to share these with us for troubleshooting, but this is entirely optional.
7. Third-Party Services
The MindTrack desktop application does not integrate with any third-party services. No data is shared with:
- Advertising networks
- Analytics providers
- Social media platforms
- Cloud storage services
- Any external APIs or services
8. Data Security
Since all data stays on your device:
- You have complete control over your information
- Data security depends on your device's security
- We recommend keeping your operating system updated
- Uninstalling MindTrack removes all associated data
9. Children's Privacy
MindTrack is designed for users 13 years and older. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. Since we don't collect any personal information, this protection is built-in.
10. GDPR and CCPA Compliance
MindTrack is compliant with privacy regulations including GDPR and CCPA because:
- We don't collect personal data
- We don't process user information
- We don't transfer data to third parties
- Users have complete control over their local data
11. Open Source Transparency
MindTrack's code is open source and available on GitHub. You can:
- Review our code to verify privacy claims
- Build the application from source yourself
- Contribute to development
- Report security issues responsibly
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy occasionally. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last Updated" date. Since MindTrack doesn't collect user emails, we cannot notify you directly of changes. We recommend checking this page periodically.
13. Contact Information
If you have questions about this Privacy Policy or MindTrack's privacy practices:

- Use MindTrack without providing any personal information
- Delete all local data by uninstalling the application
- Disable update checks to prevent any network communication
- Build your own version from our open-source code
- Use alternative timers if our privacy practices change
Privacy Promise
We built MindTrack because we needed a privacy-respecting focus timer. As members of the ADHD community ourselves, we understand the importance of tools that work without compromising privacy. This isn't just a policy—it's our commitment to you.
